Dental Implants
Dental implants are screws that are made of titanium and mimic the root of native teeth. Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth. Use of dental implants enables a restoration that is very close to the natural state of the mouth. Thus, it is not required to cut down the adjacent teeth. If you have missing teeth and the dental implant is not contraindicated, the best solution is the dental implant.

How Many Dental Implants Do I Need?
Dental implants can be used either to replace a single tooth or restore your whole smile. Depending on how many teeth you have missing will depend on the number of implants you will need. Dental implants can be used to replace any amount of teeth - from a single missing tooth to full mouth restoration. Oral Surgeon at BlackWhite Dentistry will take an assessment of your teeth first, and then we will draw up a custom treatment plan to fix your dental issue. Generally we do not replace every missing tooth with a dental implant. It should be understood that dental implants refer to only one part of the artificial tooth that will be fixed inside your mouth. The part referred to as the implant looks like a screw that is fused with your jawbone. If you have a gap where 3 or 4 teeth are missing along the same row, we will place 2 dental implants (one at each end of the gap). These implants will support a 3 or 4 tooth dental implant bridge. Alternatively if you only have one tooth missing, we place will place 1 single dental implant and implant crown.
Our dental implants can support up to 28 teeth, with 14 on each jaw. If you have no teeth on your upper and lower jaws we will usually place 6-8 implants along the upper jaw and 6-8 implants along the lower jaw, 12-16 implants in total. These implants will support a full set of 28 teeth (14 teeth along each jaw).
